ARTISAN CRAFTS

Santa Rosa has traditionally been a city in which the arts have flourished. Still today, many families have worked in a certain craft for generations and have preserved the traditions and roots of their crafts. Traditional craftsmanship of the area includes cigars, ironwork, tanneries, woodshops, leather products and pottery, among others.

Santa Rosa is home to eight tanneries where leather is tanned and crafted into a variety of products such as belts, saddles, wallets, key chains, holsters, stirrups, leads, halters, and book bags. These tanneries have become a tourist attraction where visitors can witness the full process.

The city also has several artisan shops in which you will find decorations, wood and stone carvings, key chains, hammocks, purses, pens, necklaces, ceramics, vases, knives, lighters and pottery.
