FRIED BANANA CHIPS (TAJADAS)
Tajadas are a favorite snack in Honduras. They consist of unripe plantains or bananas, sliced, and salted. Tajadas are often served with a sour cream-like condiment for dipping.
Some tajadas are flavored with lime or jalapeño. Tajadas are usually eaten as a side dish with lunch or dinner or by itself as a snack.

INGREDIENTS
3 ripe bananas (with skin already black)
1/2 cup oil
PREPARATION
1. Peel the bananas and cut them diagonally in 1 centimeter slices, about 8 slices for each banana.
2. In a large frying pan, heat the oil for 2 minutes over a high flame and add in the slices. Fry each slice for about 5 minutes, turning them 2 to three times, until they are golden.
3. Remove the slices, drain them well, and place them on a paper towel to soak up the excess grease. Sprinkle with salt.
4. Serve with mantequilla (sour cream). |
