Santa Rosa de Copán; Tradition and Culture

This tour includes a walk through the historic town center of Santa Rosa, an introduction to local artisan crafts and a sampling of traditional local food.  During the tour, you will learn about the traditional leather handicrafts of the area, identify the important architectural styles and prominent historic buildings of the city, and will learn about the history of the main landmarks of the city, including the Central Park, church, and central Market.  The tour also includes a trip to the Flor de Copán cigar factory, world-famous for their quality Honduran cigars which have been a tradition in the city for more than 300 years.  At the end of the day, we will visit the Padre Jesús farm, a nearby natural area where you can see variety of flowers and relax with your friends and family. 

In the Morning
Visit artisan leather workshops where you can observe the diversity of products and handicrafts, such as shoemaking, saddle making, and artisan leather work.  Also, you will see a demonstration in one of the workshops and will have the opportunity to create you own leather souvenir.

In the Afternoon
We will visit the Flor de Copán cigar factory, and observe the entire production process.  Finally, we will end at the Padre Jesús farm, where you can enjoy a variety of flowers in bloom, agricultural products and fresh fruit of the season.  You can also take a walk on one of the several trails and observe the many exotic birds and regional vegetation.
